Niffy give top of the table a scare

This week’s opponents were top of the league Bharat Sports. Niffy made a good start and held Bharat to 62 runs from 22 overs, Connor Smith and Tom Muggleton bowling well. Connor Smith took a blow to the shoulder at short extra cover which meant he had to sit out for the remainder of the innings, so twelve man (first lady) made her second appearance of the season and did well helping out. Joe Naylor took 2 wickets, both catches by his dad Sean Naylor. The wickets though couldn’t stop the flow of runs and Bharat speedily got themselves to 200 from 38 overs where they declared.

After tea Niffy had 52 overs in which to chase down 201 to win. Jono Hill opened the batting with Elliot Butlin, both of which did well, amassing 38 at the end of the tenth over. Michael Megginson didn’t hang around, smashing three consecutive sixes but eventually perishing for 32. Unfortunately for Jono Hill no one seemed to be able to stick around, and eventually Jono Hill found himself watching all 10 players get out and ending 88* himself. Connor Smith did fantastically with an injured shoulder and got Niffy an extra batting point and giving Bharat a scare, ending just 7 short of the win.
