Waddington blows away village folk.

Overcast conditions and a poor looking surface greeted the 2s on arrival. A lost toss and asked to bat first. A slow start with the ball hardly bouncing shin high.

Fleetwood out bowled by budding Spielberg. The bowler constantly play up to the camera. His own team warning the 2s of his self love. Martin Lbw to Ford Coppola 31 for 2. 13 overs. A rain break and of course the camera was safely put away before the covers were considered.

A break in the rain allowed 1 ball to be bowled and the camera to be repositioned. Another break and the tripod was away again then pitch covered. A 40 over game now. Batsmen ready to go. Home side slowly taking the field, yes you’ve guessed it cameras at the ready. Eventually play restarted.

Hignell out for 4. 49 for 3. Hendry next in. Run rate needing to increase to set a decent score. Wagstaff and Hendry add 31 before Wagstaff removed for 21. Hendry now moving into range hitting mode. Page D supporting well.

A partnership of 35 ending with Page D caught for a decent 19. 115 for 5. 33 overs. Muggleton joining Hendry. A competition starts. Who can lose the most balls. Muggleton showing the hours on the bowling machine are well worth it. Hendry out for a powerful 50.

Waddington pushed up the order to power on. Muggleton now in full flow. The home side out of spare balls. Away captains balls next to be sent into the stingers. Kubrick no match for the 2 powerful batsmen. Will the towering 6 by Muggleton off his bowling find the editors floor?

182 for 8 the total from 40overs. A decent tea including a first. Stuffed vine leaves! Time to bowl.

A maiden by Rowe and a wicket for Muggleton a good start. Tarantino and Kettle J batting well. Dispatching any width. 52 for 1. 12 overs. Hignell introduced for Muggleton. A spinning leg break almost breaking Nolans bat caught behind. Huge shout. Eastwood stands his ground. Umpire not out. Some choice words not printable and drinks taken 100 for 1.

A poor 20 overs by the away side and a few words and it was back to the game in hand. Page S removing Kettle J caught by Hendry for a very well played 41. 134 for 2. 27 overs bowled. 49 required from 13 overs 8 wickets in hand.

Opener Scorsese surviving a huge Lbw shout from Page S.Waddington now into the attack. Would this fine young cricketer have more luck?
For a start no. Hitchcock somehow timing the ball through his legs for 4. Waddington targeting the stumps. Full and straight required.

A massive Lbw shout against Ridley Scott. Umpires finger raised. Cameron claiming he hit it this time. George Lucas followed back to the changing rooms with a volley from the away side. 142 for 3. Soon 149 for 6. If Waddington didn’t bowl them out he caught them out. Page S removing Captain Kettle via a fine diving catch by the man of the moment Waddington. 154 for 7. Page S finishing his 10 OVERS with 3 wickets.

Walton folding in the now darkening skies. Waddington into his 5th over. Lbw followed by bowled and yet again another 2nd team bowler looking for a hat trick. Sadly just a dot ball. Rowe now recalled to Finnish off the innings. 2nd ball hit in the direction of mid on. Who would be waiting? Off course it had to be Waddington. A safe pair of hands and victory. Outstanding 2nd half of the innings after an equally poor 1st Half.

Back in pavilion to change in near darkness.

Man of the match. Waddington 5-14 and 2 fine catches.
