Rowe and Waqas lead victory charge.

Week 17 arrived and was greeted by storm “Gardner”. With stories and photos exchanged it was time for a toss. Bharat skipper calling wrongly and was inserted to the extreme satisfaction of the home skipper.

Rowe down hill and wind, Muggleton to power into the eye of the storm. Skipper reminding the importance of the game with Bharat just behind in 3rd place. Both bowlers responding well. Rowe 4 maidens in a row including a fine LBW. 19 for 1 10 overs bowled. A fine catch behind the stumps off Rowe. 25 for 2. Bowlers creating pressure. Tejas in at 4. Looking solid and trying to increase the rate.

Rowe removed from the attack 2-16 from10 miserly overs. Wale introduced. 51 for 2 20 overs bowled. A refreshing rain break and a 43 over game. Muggleton finishing a 12 over stint, very unlucky not to have anything in the wicket column. Page S now steaming into the wind.

Away skipper Hitesh removed LBW To the delight of the clubs favourite thespian. Wale removed and time for Taylor. 103 for 3, 32 overs. The pocket rocket finding rhythm down the hill. Tejas bowled for a fine 44. Taylor the successful bowler. A fine diving catch by Wale to remove no 5 batsmen again Taylor the bowler.

2 run outs by Parrish and Waqas. The later a fantastic sprint challenge. Waqas collecting the ball at mid wicket and what seemed like slow motion running the ball all the way to the stumps to remove the batsmen. Highly amusing stuff, but sadly not for the outgoing batsmen.

Taylor finish another impressive spell replaced by Rowe to close out the final over. A wicket was his reward thanks to a fine catch by Parrish. 153 for 8.

Time for tea. Sadly some of the home team far to delicate to consume the splendid spread. Taylor Mrs to thank for this weeks offerings.

Smith and Martin to open. Smith smashed........Off to a flying start 4,6.Martin playing his role well. 26 for 1. Smith caught 1st slip. 26 for 2. Wagstaff caught 1st slip. Waqas in at 4.

Off the mark with back to back 3s. Martin solid. Partnership required to settle any nerves. Waqas playing very straight. Drinks taken at 22 overs 74 for 2. Waqas now vocal and up for the task. Both batsmen pushing the fielders and rotating the strike well. 102 for 2 30 overs with Waqas passing 50.

Martin removed for a solid 33. 122 for 3 34 overs bowled. Parrish in at 5 not showing any fatigue in his legs after shaking his hips all night long! Waqas now powering on. The boundary riders no match for his powerful stroke play. A partnership of 24 ended with Parrish caught looking to close the game out. 146 for 4.

In typical Waqas style a towering 6 to seal a fine victory. With the away skipper locking his team in the changing rooms the equipment was put away, a refreshing shower was taken. Result entered on the league web site, a pint consumed..... still no sign. How can we get them to come out?

Wagstaff putting the away side out of there misery with a fine rendition of “The niffys going up“ This capping off a great result for both 1s and 2s.
