Taylor and Fleetwood standout.

Week 16 and the 2s arrived at local rivals Wigston Town. After surveying the pitch a good toss to win. Looms calling correctly and inserting the home side.

Muggleton and Looms taking the new ball. Off to a flying start with Dunkley removed 1st over caught in the gully by Page D off the bowling of “20 nuggs”. Aston B in at 3 on his last appearance due to a move to China. Looms finding his edge and the catch taken superbly by the flying Waqas at 2nd slip. Just the start the away side required.

Overseas Amannath looking in fine touch now joined by Brooks. A solid partnership by these 2 contained well by the opening bowlers with plenty of playing and missing. Amannath removed by Muggleton via a smart catch by Smith.

Opening bowlers removed after 19 overs with the score 66 for 3. Taylor and Page S the change bowlers. Both claiming a wicket in there 2nd overs. Taylor finding his feet quickly and soon having the home batsmen in trouble. 2 further wickets for “The pocket rocket” saw a huge smile appear on the bowlers face. A fine spell of 6 overs claiming 3 victims for just 15 runs.

Parrish D taking over and finding his range to good effect. Hearne and Savjani looking to increase the run rate. Hearne run out by Taylor with a fine chase and accurate throw. Berriman now at the crease. Page S removed and Muggleton returned after a telling off for a poor attempt at a run out!

Savjani removed by Parrish D thanks to a smart catch in the deep by the now pumped Taylor. Muggleton claiming the final wicket thanks to the safe hands of Smith. 137 all out. Fine bowling performance with Taylor standing head and shoulders above the pack.

Tea was taken with a 1st birthday party that reminded the away skipper of many good times in Crystals night spot.

With support now growing for the away side Martin and Fleetwood opened against Aston B and Berriman. A solid start required as Berriman is well known to the 2s. Flicks off the legs and a few through the slips see the away side off to a steady start. Martin the 1st out for 16. 44 for 1 with drinks taken at 22 overs. Waqas in at 3 to increase the run rate. Fleetwood happy to knock it around and play the innings the skipper had asked for.

1 huge 6 was all Waqas could manage removed by the impressive Woolner. 62 for 2 27 overs bowled. Smith in next nursing a poorly hand. Manning up and finding his timing well. With the score on 85 Fleetwood Bowled by the returning Berriman for a well played 43. Wagstaff joining Smith with a run rate of 5 required. Wagstaff removed for 9 looking to push on.

Muggleton lofting Woolner for 4 to seal a tense victory and decent run chase. Showers and victory drinks taken back at headquarters with stories to share.
