second team

very briefly a quick report from the previous weeks game against Langton's the Niffy fell 23 runs short against a solid Langton's side in a game which was in the balance until right near the end with the Niffy losing wickets at vital times curbing the run chase..... the highlights Joey's 5fer jonny's 57 and smig's 49.... alosing draw was the outcome
so onto Medbourne away the skipper lost the toss and the Niffy were asked to bat and got off to a bad start when Badger picked out the fielder when trying to hit over the top Jonny soon followed leaving the Niffy on 16-2, Gardner and Ed thou saw off the opening partnership and steadied the ship until Ed walked across to far and was bowled Happy Meal soon followed LBW 63-4 then a good partnership between Yorkie and Jacko saw the Niffy edge towards the target the skipper hoped for until Yorkie missed one and was out for an excellent 55, Jacko soon followed (another with hamstrings like string!!) again thou for a valuable 24... then the match winning partnership between Waggy and Muggle with a quick fire 60 odd partnership until both fell in the same over leaving the niffy on 195 with 8 balls remaining.... the skipper and Gibbo got the Niffy score to 210 with the Skipper matching Waggy's big shots for 6 which Yorkie FAILED to do even when hitting with the 40 mph wind behind him.......
After another fantastic tea provided by the hosts (got to be the best away tea provided) the Niffy set about the Medbourne attack and was helped by a suicidal run out following good work by Happy Meal and Badger.. The skipper then got the wicket which Waggy snaffled of Medbourne's opening Batsman Jarvis much to Waggys delight after getting a send off by him.... sharpey bowled well without any luck, the Skipper claimed another then gave Happy Meal the ball but he struggled in the blustery conditions, ends were changed the Skip bowled another over and claimed his third wicket Jonny taking the chance. Waggy then took over claiming another 4 wickets (12-4-34-4) another top effort even off just 5 paces.. Ed took a good catch to get rid off Medbournes skipper which provided the lift the niffy needed..... Gibbo changed ends and took the final 2 wickets to claim 30 points and another place up the table....... Big game this week against a team it is about time we beat.....
