dropped catches cost the chance to test kibworth

On a cold day certainly not cricket weather Kibworth won the toss and elected to bowl first on a well prepared wicket, The Niffy made a slow start with good tight lines being offered by the opening kibworth bowlers so tight that when tom decided to leave a straight one it was only hitting one thing off stump!! Tom then spent the next hour telling everyone it seamed in a country mile ( I believed him Not) Badger then picked out a fielder shortly after and smig was done by Chilly's quicker one leaving the niffy on 21-3 not the best of starts. Will after a nervous start on his Niffy senior debut (probably still shaking after his singing debut) was slowly finding his feet and beginning to give the kibworth bowlers something to think about and at tea the niffy were on 57-3, Matt then picked out the fielders to give them catching practise as did Jono and Ajmal, Will thou continued to be a thorn in kibworth's side with some sweetly timed shot's just as he was beginning to hit the accelerator he holed out for a very well played 57, leaving the Niffy on 93-7. It then became the Muggle show with the skipper at the other end (trying to keep up with him) Tom grew in confidence hitting the ball to all parts of the kibworth outfield with him actually watching the ball instead of trying to smash everything out of sight, Tom finally was out caught in the deep for a superb 60 putting on a partnership of just under 80 with the skipper giving the Niffy much needed momentum, The skip was out stumped for 16 then Matty got a valuable 3 runs to get the score to 175 before being bowled a score which we all thought was excellent under difficult circumstances.
Then unfortunately it was the case of dropped catches with the opening kibworth batsmen being put down 4 times during Ajmal's and Matty's bowling spell which proved to be the turning point as the opening pair put on 93 runs before a mix up gained the niffy their first wicket with a run out, Benny then claimed 2 further wickets with catches in the deep via the two tom's Gardner and Muggleton two further chances were put down to make it a miserable catching performance in the field but lots of positives to take from the performance.
We had 2 players making their first starts for the Niffy and fitted in very nicely, on another day Ajmal could of had 3 wickets in his opening spell and will looked a natural both with bat and behind the stumps but certainly not with his singing, Muggle now has the platform to build on his batting performance if he is able to do this then he is going to be very popular in the Niffy Fantasy Cricket League
