after looking at the pitch and deciding that batting first would be the way to go, we promptly loss the toss and were asked to field. It was a good looking pitch as well, firm with a reasonable amount of grass on it. the outfield was looking lovely as well. the weather was sunny spells mixed with a strong cold wind that made it a difficult choice about how many layers to wear. Kibfest could be heard blasting across the fields as well, which wasnt a good thing really, but its helping me pad this out and not talk about cricket.
i'm sure it could have been worse. somehow. on the plus side, Tom M bowled better than his figures suggest, Matt bowled a really good spell and the rest of us chased the ball well. End result 303-2. And yes, my last over went for 28. hardly worth a mention really.
The two wickets we did take were of both their openers. Boucher chipping a simple catch to Nick at mid-on for a paltry 6, and the other being a very good sky'er of a catch from Matt off the bowling Karl, dismissing Greenhalgh for 91.
With us all looking forwards to having a bat on this belter of a pitch, it all seemed to unravel quite quickly. Wickets came and went at very regular intervals until Nick and Will came together and put on a good stand before Nick went for a quick 40. This was by far the highest score for us, with Rich 2nd top scoring with 18, but the standout performance was Will, digging in for at least 3 days to save the draw, ending up unbeaten on 16 with Liam down the other end supporting him for the last 4 or 5 overs.
sorry about the short report - but there really wasn't that many highlights
