Niffy back on track after big win at Market Harborough

Karl took his second team to Market Harborough on a chilly day. Handing a debut to leg spinner Ben Martin and welcoming back Ash Hallam and Sam Spencer.
After a minor delay getting into the ground, the toss was won by Harborough and surprisingly allowed Countesthorpe to bowl first on a wicket that looked....lets say green.
Tom Muggleton rushed in and struggled for consistency against the strong wind, but still gave the batsmen enough to do. He was well supported by Matt Sharpe, who gets better each week. Unlucky yet again to beat the bat and see the edges drop well short of the packed slip cordon.
The breakthrough came with the unlikely partnership of Toony and Hayden. Hayden bowled with pace and accuracy whilst Toony put the standard full toss in early doors, eventually bowled with accuracy and even some turn! Catches were taken and the fielding spot on throughout the afternoon. Toony and Hayden finishing with 2 wickets apiece. Young Ben was thrown the ball and struck in his first over, bowling with flight and guile, enticed the batsmen into a couple of false shots. Captain Karlos was as usual economic, 3 wickets for one run- well bowled Skip. Golden Arm Rich Sharpe struck with his one and only delivery that left Market Harborough all out for 113.

A lengthy tea break was taken, with Hot Dogs devoured by all.

Tom Gardner and Ash Hallam opened the account for Countesthorpe, both played freely with Ash missing a straight one. Matt McDonald, who has not disappointed at all this season came in and carried on the good form finishing on 29*. Tom went from strength to strength, and with his own fans sheltering from the cold, went onto his 50 in no time, finishing on 58*- well batted.

The fines were taken in good spirit at the end as Countesthorpe tasted victory once again.

Many other highlights such as Speno's escaping act after Terry Martin locking him in the changing rooms and Karl's mini pads.

Onto Bitteswell at Home next week in a top of the table clash.
