Catches Win Matches

Countesthorpe were invited to bat on a chilly Saturday afternoon against Thorpe Arnold.

The usual story of the top four getting in....and then out again. Jonno Hill played well before getting ball of the day (34) Tom Gardner flirted with the infield a couple of times before a good catch at mid off (15). Matt McDonald once again played well for his 30 and Toony got in and missed a straight one, trying to emulate Dhoni! (13). Rich Sharpe anchored the innings, (29) and the others came and went as Niffy posted 194-9. Competitive.

The opening bowlers bowled superb lines, only for the fielders to let them down once again with some average catching and fielding efforts.
It was only at drinks, after Toony cleared the throat with a 'this isn't jolly well good enough chaps' and Karl issued a mission statement that Countesthorpe looked anything like wicket takers.
Hayden came on and bowled good lines, with decent pace to remove 3 of the Thorpe Arnold line up. Wickets did fall at regular intervals, but all a little too late.

Disappointment on the faces of the Counteshorpe players at the end was good to see, a bit of anger and passion needs to return to the game.
A tough trip to Market Harborough next week- that will not be easy.
