Disappointing Losing Draw for the Seconds
Anthony's efforts in vein as the 2nds flop
A disappointing Saturday for the 2nd XI as they travelled to Langtons.
The toss won, Niffy bowled first. Tom Muggleton started well, two early wickets which got Countesthorpe thinking this was going to be their day.
Wayward bowling at times allowed Langtons to get a foothold in the game. Dropped catches, poor fielding and a lack of interest seem to have crept in by the time Langtons scored 201-9 in their allotted overs. 30-50 runs gifted to the opposition saw a half time pep talk/hair dryer treatment from the Skip.
The batting side of things was dominated by one man, on his return Derrick Anthony punished the bad balls and defended the good ones- a lesson to all others in the batting line up maybe?
Derricks 67, a shining light on what was a poor batting effort on the whole.
A losing draw was salvaged after Captain Karl and Rich Sharpe dug in at the end to ensure the result was not a loss.
