countesthorpe 2's

With both sides only having ten players, Rothley's acting skipper called wrong and the Niffy opened the batting but found it tough with wickets falling cheaply, it was only Jonny 'The Nurdler' Henfrey who was frustrating the Rothley Bowlers until the Niffy's Wildcard joined him at the crease with the score being 71-4, Hayden then showed the others how it was done hitting the ball into part rarely ventured @ Bassett ave, The Nurdler was the first to reach his half century as he was finally beginning to find his timing, Hayden not far behind him but taking 100 balls less to reach his 50 (only joking jonny). Rothley finally got the Nurdler out for a well played 76 and with a partnership of 112 this gave the Niffy a foothold in the game, The remaining batsman tried to support Hayden in his attempt to reach his century but it wasn't to be (joey given out LBW for a ball hitting him the chest) which produced cries of 'Specsavers' from both sides. Very poor umpiring on this occasion. The Niffy were finally all outt for 236 but with 8 overs remaining this gave Rothley 53 overs to get the score or the Niffy 8 more overs to get them all out.

Things started well with Toony deceiving the Rothley openers with his wide swinging deliveries, But then things turned Rothley's way as the batsmen took a liking to the bowling on offer and after 9 overs the were on 99-2, The skip got Gibbo and Wildcard into the attack and after a couple of overs order was restored with the pair both claiming 2 wickets a piece. Drinks were taken and the skip brought Joey back into the attack in an attempt to get out the remaining batsmen, twice he found the edge in his first over but one skipped off the surface and smashed into the skip's face leaving him bloodied and swollen!!. Things are a little vague after this point (haha) but i think Toony (1 wicket) and Joey (2 wickets) finished off Rothley's resistence to secure 30 points to the Niffy.

Many thanks to everyone who played this season for the second team under the circumstances to finish 6th was a good effort, improvements are required especially are catching which at times let us down, but the team has a fine spirit which if that is continued with next season things won't be far wrong.

Congratulations to Benny (leading batsman) Joey (leading wickets and Players Player) and Hayden (captains Player of the season)
so that's it for this season thanks for reading
