on a rough looking wicket the skipper asked Rothley to bat first on winning the toss, and once again the bowling combination of waggy and joey did the business restricting the home side to just 2 boundaries off the first 15 overs taking 3 wickets in the process, the skip then asked his wild card to bowl who only lasted one over tweaking his back while running into the slight breeze, with waggy doing a fine job at his end he claimed his fourth wicket in his last over removing the dangerous Hesketh for a well played 37,The skipper came into the attack with rothleys lower order providing some stiff resistance and with some boring persistent bowling he managed to bag four wickets himself, joey once again proved an excellent death bowler with his final three overs only going for two runs the skip was very pleased to have kept the home side to 152. Young willy did a fine job behind the sticks and apart from a dropped dolly it was a very solid performance.
The Rothley bowlers started very well removing both Tommy and Si for only 15 runs on the board the vice skip then tried to smash the bowling to relieve some of the pressure before falling for 18, Benny then joined Smig who was looking very solid once again and between they slowly got a grip of the wicket until Benny fell for a TREMENDOUSLY well played 30, Smiggler thou was showing his class reaching his 50 with his seventh boundary of his innings, when Benny departed the skip sent in his wild card hoping he could hit some boundaries to relief some of the pressure (which apparently only the skipper felt) and ho duly did hitting the boundary four times, But it was Smig with a masterclass innings of 66 not out seeing the niffy home to make it two from two for the new skip.
