countesthorpe 2's

With the returning skip winning the toss he asked Bitteswell to bat first on a fresh strip and Waggy struck first ball removing Bateman and then Removed the other opener not long after but unfortunately things then proved tough on a good batting track, Joey was unlucky not to get Jagadish who looked very nervy at the start but then he began to find his stride and with Dand at the crease the Bitteswell batsmen pushed the score along, When rich finally got Jagadish out with a well taken catch by Jono bitteswell had a good platform and Grimes soon got into the scoring groove hitting a well played innings of 73 not out off 50 balls, Dand was caught by Toony off Young Jimmy's bowling for an excellent 99, having got a life when the skip put him down he did deserve to reach 3 figures. Bitteswell ended on 280-3, a good score but somewhat below par compared to the previous week so the Niffy were not to dis-heartened.

Jono was the first to fall slightly unlucky to toe end one straight up bringing Toony to the crease and he and willy started to push the ball around making the fielders work until toony chipped one round the corner straight to the fielder just as a nice partnership was beginning to form, Dan came to the crease and hit his first ball for 6, again another partnership was beginning to be built until Dan snicked off and then one run later Willy gloved one to the keeper, Waggy and Rich then started off another partnership with Waggy finding the boundary freely until he missed a straight one, Ed came and went facing only one ball bringing James (jimmy) to the crease and the partnership he formed with Rich was something that the team had been missing over the last few weeks, The partnership of 114 was finally ended when jimmy was caught for an excellent 49. The pair batted superb together and at one stage if they could of carried on may have got the Niffy very close to Bitteswell's score but it wasn't to be, Rich was finally out for 67 rather unluckily to have been given out stumped. Joey and Liam saw out the final few deliveries to gain the draw. A much improved effort compared to the following week and one that needs to be continued next week when we face the high flying Langtons.
