Niffy fight bravely but still go down

on a very warm day the skip won the toss and the niffy batted first, Deggs and willy took a cautious start but were slowly getting to grips with the bowling until Derek snicked behind trying to increase the run rate, Benny joined Willy and started to put together a partnership but then Willy also snicked off bringing Smig to the crease, he promptly strode down the wicket and smashed his first ball faced for 4, Smig was very unlucky to lose his wicket as the bowler's Grunt distracted him and cleaned him up, Steve started well playing some nice shots until he was deceived, Benny was still at the other end as partners came and went, and in the last five overs Benny opened up moving past his fifty and finally ending up 87 not out a season's best so far for him putting the niffy onto 226. Narborough started off with intent although at times with some luck also. The Niffy were then reduced to 10 men in the 9th over as the skip's calf muscle popped leaving the Niffy with a tough task, Waggy finally got the break through removing the N'boro skipper and then what possibly turned out to be the turning point of the game, Steve seemed to have found the edge of the new batsman who never walked and the finger didn't go up and then played no shot to a straight one and again the umpire's finger remained firmly in his pocket. credit to the Niffy they carried on battling against the odd's but were unable to get into N'boro's lower order but to get 6 wickets was a fine effort. The last few weeks we have played fair giving decisions that when we want them from the opposition we are not getting, i think this is something we need to start bearing in mind i am not a cheat but i think as a team we are being to honest and not giving our own players the benefit of the doubt where quite clearly the opposition are!!
