Gritty performance in the field could not make up for lack of runs

On a damp wicket the Burbage skipper asked the Niffy to bat first on a wicket that gave the bowlers plenty of variety. Deggys and Willie found the going tough with runs hard to come by,Willie was the first to fall being on the end of one that popped up off the wicket and hitting the glove as he tried to avoid the ball, Benny came and went without scoring and then deggys followed suit trying to push the score on, it became a bad day for the Niffy batsmen as one by one they gave their wicket away, unfortunately this is becoming something that happens on a regular basis and it's something that the second team Must improve on.Ending up on 64 all out is the third time this season a very low total has been posted.

Now the positives to take from this game, Burbage took what chances came there way and so did the Niffy, Joey bowled his best spell of the season having the batsmen beaten all ends up on numerous occasions and deserved more wickets than just the one he got, but when your opening spell of 7 overs only goes for 8 runs the skipper could not ask for anything more, on a contrasting note the skip replaced waggy who was struggling with his knee and went onto to bowl 5 overs of "filth" and take 3 wickets with two very good catches by jamie and tom muggleton.
But with only 64 to defend it was never going to be enough if there was another 60 runs on the board it might of got interesting. The niffy though to there credit fielded very well showing great fighting spirit and going down with their heads held high, we now must focus on the "middle order collapse" that we keep suffering and try and build a score to keep competitive.
