Missed Opportunity

for once the skipper lost the toss and the niffy were put into bat on a slightly damp wicket, Welcoming Deggys back for his first second team game of the season and willy set about seeing off Bitteswell opening attack which they did with the odd ball popping around, but with the score on 35 Deggs was bowled bringing Benny to the crease, the pair put together a good partnership (78)giving the Niffy a good platform before Willy four runs short of his 50 chased a wide one and looping it the fielder for an easy catch, Benny soon followed Will as niffy tried to step up the run rate, Tom sanders then perished but acquitted himself very well bringing the wildcard to the crease to join the VC, With 8 overs to go and the score being only 134 quick runs were needed and yet again the two of them didn't disappoint, The wildcard scoring 38 off 22 balls and the VC ending up on 38 not out to give the niffy a final score of 208, a very good effort considering the conditions.
The Niffy then set about the Bitteswell opening batsman with joey being very unlucky not to have a wicket with his first ball with what looked like a very good LBW shout, Waggy was proving to tough for the batsmen to hit without getting a break through so the decision was made to give the wildcard a go and he removed both openers, But unfortunately Dropped catches proved costly as Bitteswell saw out the game to finish 25 runs behind, a definate case of what might have been.
