All the hard work pays off

Many thanks to the people who contributed their efforts to get this game on after a period of heavy rain leaving parts of the square under water.
After a delayed start and a reduced game of 37 overs niffy were put into bat by the Dunton skipper, Si and willy got the niffy off to a solid start after both survived dropped catches with si in pparticular punishing the Dunton attack with some lusty blows, Si reached his first 50 of the season with a well hit boundary, but he eventually fell with the score on 99 with Si scoring 67 getting the niffy off to a solid start. New boy Rob O'Dell joined willy at the crease, but after hitting his fisrt boundary he then missed a straight one, Benny joined willy at the crease but only 2 runs were added when one popped up at willy and he snicked off behind with the score on 106-3. The VC then joined his son at the crease and between them put on a 50 run partnership which provided some momentum to the innings, Benny finally falling for a well played 24,The skip's wildcard then entered the fray and played his part smashing the bowlers to parts of the fields where the balls could not be found.In the final 5 overs Hayden and the VC scored 59 runs with hayden scoring 39 (4 sixes) helping the niffy to 217-4.
Dunton started well but slowly the niffy bowlers started taking wickets, Waggy getting two with the important wicket of Miller, Toony bowled what can only be described as an interesting spell, taking 4 wickets in his first spell before coming back on to claim his fifth, Thorpey took dunton's seventh wicket in the 35th over and toony his fifth in the 36th but it wasnt to be on this occasion, but a very solid performance making all the hard work beforehand worthwhile
