Batting falters in disappointing loss

A solid bowling performance in which Thorpey was his usual economical self, restricted Ibstock to 179 on a wicket still a little green after heavy rain the day before. Toony supported his skipper with 4-63 and Matt chipped in with 3-62 and some good catches particularly from Ed lifted moral. Sadly Ed injured his leg in taking the catch and was unable to bat. Collier, Taylor, Poole and Crane all made 30's but didn't go on.

In reply Finch and Clare were accurate, scoring was difficult as the rate required increased. At 50-2 the target was in reach but the pressure applied by Matt Sharp soon began to tell. Sharp returned the amazing figures or 11-6-6-5 and suffocated the middle and tail Sharp must have been taking tips from the Leicester skipper Ackerman as his spin wreaked havoc.
