Runs for Tyler and Thorpey takes 3 wickets but all in vain

Will and Kumara put together a stand of 66 to dig Countesthorpe out of a man size hole with 3 wickets falling for 13 Will made 17 but Kumara carried on from where he left off last week, lashing the ball to all parts of the ground. Tyler joined Kumara and played himself in, supporting Kumara with good strike rotation. Kumara raced passed 50 and having hit 8 sixes reached a tremendous ton.

Tyler upped the pace hitting the returning opening bowler Lewis for 2 boundaries before miss timing one to leg. A fine knock by young Tyler who is definately one for the future. Graeme and Tom added useful runs to edge over the 200 mark and set up a competitive total. Spencer for Ashby took 6-47

In reply Muggle took 2 early wickets but Perkins looked in good form. Cameos from Brookes and Scott helped the cause but at 110-7 Countesthorpe looked in control, with Thorpey trapping Perkins in front as well as Scott and Driver.

The opening bowling attack of Ashby were reunited at the crease and they set about the task in hand with gusto. Boundaries were the order of the day with the next 90 runs coming in only 10 overs. Lewis was the man on a mission and made 68 not out, well supported by man of the match Spencer who finished 38 not out

Countesthorpe will be disappointed to have thrown away a winning position but Lewis and Spencer played excellent knocks showing that a game is not over until its over! Lessons learnt and experience gained will be plus points for a young Countesthorpe side.
