Batting struggles after encouraging bowling performance

Tom Muggleton stepped up to open the bowling with Rich and looked the part in 5 accurate overs. Rich was again unlucky but in form Scott Moore looked untroubled. Thorpey joined the attack and dismissed Travaz and James had skipper Clarke well held by Waggy via a deflection. Moore reached 50 against some accurate bowling as Jinesina was well held by Gareth, Thorpey again being the successful bowler

Garg and Moore added 67 as 200 was posted, Moore reaching his ton in style with a well times boundary, but Garg perished to Gaz LBW soon after. James returned to the attack and eventually accounted for Moore who had powered on in the final few overs, his score of 145 was his second hundred in as many matches as he almost single handedly dragged Broomleys to a very respectable 236-6 James finished with 3- 70 and was the top wicket taker

With a fast outfield and a good wicket hopes were high of a victory Gaz looked in great form stroking the ball to all parts, but Ben soon departed, one of 5 LBW's. Will and Gaz added 82 but overs were slipping away before Will became the second LBW victim for 19. Travaz was then introduced to the attack and soon had Gaz caught behind for an excellent 59 From that point on good shot selection seem to desert the C'thorpe batsmen as 8 wickets fell for 36 runs in a disappointing collapse. Travaz who looked innocuous returned 5-35

Skipper Thorpey and Rich restored a semblance of order continuing their partnership from last week and adding 28 untroubled runs, securing a couple of bonus points en route. Rich then became the final LWB victim of the day. A tough defeat to swallow, but if you look deep enough some performances gave reasons to be optimistic and with the league being so tight the fight could go down to the last match

Egerton Park next week will be an ideal game to turn the tide!
