Brilliant Cameos by Thorpey, Wag, and Muggle not enough to force a win

After a disastrous start, Waggy and Muggle repaired the situation in brilliant style, a stand of 72 in double quick time ensured that after 20 overs the game was in the balance. However another collapse reduced C'thorpe to 113-8 Enter stage left Thorpey who with the help of Rich added 79 valuable runs in a fantastic partnership.

Thorpey has shown he is no mug with the bat before, but today he completed his maiden first team 50 in a partnership that demoralised Newbold. Rich played his part, firstly defending to support Thorpey and then taking the attack to Newbold as the final overs yielded valuable runs. A total of 192-8 was beyond expectations Thorpey's top scored with 54 not out which included 7 fours and 2 sixes , Waggy made 44 with 3 sixes and 3 fours, Muggle 30 and Rich 22 not out

In response Newbold got a flyer, with Lee Martin hitting 4 early boundaries. Wickets started to fall with Thorpey taking 2 and Rich one, continuing their partnership. Huw Davis took a heavy toll of anything off line and Matt Gransden hit some big shots. With the game slipping away Dylan Parrish entered the attack claiming his first ever first team wicket with his first ever ball, something to remember. With Davis dismissed for a very good 48

Dan Chapman joined Joe Malsbury and with sensible batting edged closer to the target. Muggle joined the attack and dismissed Chapman, but there were not enough runs to play with to induce the necessary level of panic. Malsbury sealed the 4 wicket win and ended 38 not out. Special mention for Joe Hawker who had a catch dropped when he bowed, but reciprocated by taking 3 really good ones, showing what a fine team player he is. To add to his excellent day Thorpey also took 2 catches

The loss sent C'thorope into the relegation places so a big team effort will be required over the next few week
