Rain thwarts exciting finale

2 early strikes by Luke had Lutterworth 2nds on the back foot and when Joe had Steve Masic caught behind Lutterworth were 27-3 Kaylm put bat to ball before being bowled by Thorpey. Katie Midwood joined Blume in a stand of 57 before skying to Tom off Thorpey. Blume however guided his team to a respectable 177-6 with the help of skipper Dave Fradley and young Matt Sales

In response Jason Cader bowled a lively spell before Sales bowled Gaz. Ben went LBW but Jonny and Tom recovered the situation with a 47 run partnership, Jonny perishing LBW for a crisp 18 The skipper played a couple of booming drives before holing out at extra. Sy soon followed but despite the clatter of wickets Tom was batted brilliantly and with young Will Blockleys help had reduced the target to a manageable 63 from 13 overs. The rain which had been threatening stared to fall and the umpires decided to come off.

Soon after the game was abandoned which was a disappointment as both sides had good cause to think that a win was on the cards. Tom finished on 40 not out and with good performances from the bowlers gave encouragement for the rest of the season.
