Ben steers first to 8 wicket win

The Skipper won a good toss with rain about and inserted Ivanhoe. Waggy and Joe bowled accurate opening spells without making the breakthrough. Last week's chief destroyed Thorpey entered the attack and was soon amongst the wickets with Toony holding a hot one at gully. Thorpey then reciprocated bu taking 2 catches as Toony dismissed the prolific Tony Pridmore and skipper Richard Durose.

Rain halted proceedings and tea was taken, Ivanhoe were left with 3 overs to boost their run rate. Young Joe had other ideas and claimed 2 wickets in the first over of the resumption. Craig then bowled an invaluable maiden, before Pip Twigg hit a dozen from the last over the take the score to 185 for 6

In reply new recruit Andy Galpin and Ben Sharpe looked solid in a partnership of 31 before Andy departed. Thorpey promoted to number 3 supported Ben who was hitting the ball cleanly. A partnership of 41 ensued before Thorpey got the ball of the day from Mack Moore! Craig joined Ben and slowly but surely increased the run rate. Ben reached a high quality 50 hopefully the first of many this season.

Craig hit his customary big 6's and soon followed Ben to his half century, however with the target looming Ben turned on the after burners, racing to 82 and smashing Shortland to the boundary to complete a brilliant 8 wicket win. A partnership of 114 secured an important victory in a team slightly depleted, however confidence is now high as the team await the visit of a useful Ibstock Town next Saturday.
