Waggy and Thorpey take 4 each

After winning the toss and asking Lutterworth to bat, Luke opened the bowling with a controlled spell, however it was his opening partner Waggy who created the havoc in Lutterworth's top order. Joe Hack was bowled when one seamed through the gate and soon after Ashley Rayner was well held by Smig at slip. Next ball and Britesh Patel went, caught by Sy at Gully and Waggy was on a hatrick. Jake Blume defended well, but Waggy's spell came to an end with great figures of 3-6 from 7 overs.

Thorpy replaced Luke and soon dismissed the stubborn opener John Fish and next ball bowled the dangerous Damian Baxter, again the hatrick ball came to nothing but Lutterworth were rocking at 63-5 Joe Hawker replaced Waggy and bowled a fine spell, showing his undoubted potential at the higher level. Luke then claimed a deserved wicket of Jason Cader, however skipper Dave Fradley looked in good form, Ben Watson supported Fradley as they pushed the score passed the ton, before Waggy returned to see off Fradley. The innings ended on 136-9 with both Waggy and Thorpy claiming 4 wickets.

Gaz and Tommy started well putting on 45 for the first wicket, before Tommy was bowled, Sharpy hit 3 powerful boundaries before Fish bowled him with the score on 62 Young Ben Sharpe then joined Gaz and between them took Countesthorpe to within sight of victory before a collapse saw 4 wickets fall for just 8 runs. Gaz was yorked by a good ball from Ben Watson, just failing to reach a deserved 50 and on the same score Ben was caught in the gully for a very good 24 again showing the talent last years under 17's possess. Smig was caught behind and Sy run out as a bit of panic set in. Fortunately the experienced pair of Luke and Badge were able to knock off the last 20 runs to secure a 4 wicket win. A huge confidence boost and the signs look good for a successful season!
