Battling 48 not out by Dave Sharpe ensures bowlers have a chance

Aided by extras C'thorpe raced along in the early overs reaching 47 without loss after 12 overs. Then a collapse saw 6 wickets fall for 39 runs, fortunately skipper Dave Sharpe had hung on in there and at last found an ally in Toony. Both Dave and Toony found the boundary with crisp timing and the occasional bludgeon adding 33 important runs before Toony was caught and bowled by skipper Chris Elliott

Thorpey who had lacked runs recently suddenly remembered which end of the bat to hold as Dave accumulated at the other end, with overs running out both batsmen upped the tempo with Dave's flat 6 over point the highlight. A unbroken partnership of 52 ensured the bowlers had something to bowl at on a wicket still retaining moisture from overnight rain. Thorpey finishing with 18 and th skipper playing a captains knock 48 invaluable runs.

Thorpey and Luke opened with maidens and as the pressure tightened, Tom Miles edged Thorpey to be held by Sam. Louis Botting didn't stay long as Thorpey had him well held by Ben at slip, Craig entered the attack after Luke had bowled 8 overs for only 4 runs. Craig then ripped out Billesdon's middle order as Bowden was then bowled, Harrison caught by Ben again at slip and Vinas pouched by Sy at the 2nd attempt.

Opener Chand looked to up the rate but Toony soon had him caught by Sharpey of the Dave variety, Nourish perished slogging and Sam Balckwell was deceived by Toony as Billesdon looked doomed at 80-8 Elliott was joined by Luke Mitchell who got off the mark with a 6 With the rate at 10 an over Billesdon looked miles away but this pair had other ideas. Mitchell smacked four 6's and 4 x 4's as only 26 were needed from 4 however Toony deceived Mitchell in flight and Ben took a pressure catch on the long off boundary, Mitchell departing for a 22 ball 47

Frantic running between the wickets edged Billesdon closer before Luke sealed the win bowling Elliott with 16 needed, closer than expected but nevertheless a good win. Toony finished with 4-54 and Craig 3-30 in a controlled bowling display (until
the last 6 overs!)
