Tom and Gaz put on a century opening partnership aided by some wayward Oakham bowling which yielded plenty of extras. Tom went for a well made 41 as Jonny joined Gaz. Oakham's spinners gained control as the rate slowed in the middle overs, Jonny was out trying to up the rate well held on the long on boundary, Gaz top edged a pull and was caught by keeper Richard Martin. Ben and Craig led the charge in the final overs before Luke bashed a quick 28 not out as C'thorpe finished on 228-6
Skipper Martin set off in a hurry with 27 coming from the first 3 overs. Thorpey found his length and slowed the rate down but Martin reached a classy 50 in no time at all. Toony came into the attack and the prolific Cameron Flowers was brilliantly held by Ben at cow corner. Toony then had Martin caught at deep mid on by Thorpey who leapt like a salmon to snaffle the chance.
Shukla and Calvin Flowers rebuilt before Gaz had Shukla caught behind. Lakhani then survived a stumping appeal before adding 99 with Flowers. Craig had Flowers caught at point and Radford held at mid off as a bit of panic set in amongst the Oakham ranks. 12 were needed from 9 balls when ironically extras came to Oakham's rescue with 5 wides slipping down the leg side, an edged boundary meant Oakham needed 3 from the last over. A valiant attempt by Luke to secure a winning draw failed when Siddle edged him to the third man boundary
An excellent game played in good spirit by both teams,
