Not much to write about really.
The breakfast cobs were ok? The drive to Uppingham was nice?
Losing the toss at the picturesque ground at Uppingham resulted in Countesthorpe having to bat, on what looked a decent track with a fast outfield.
Gaz and Jonny opened up. Both looked solid until Jon lofted a catch to cover. Tom Smith joined Gaz and this is where Niffy looked on top, Tom continuing from last week looking in good touch, playing the leg side shots as per usual to the fence. A rare rash shot saw him dismissed for a well played 37. From there, we should all forget. Dubious LBW's and a run out along with Ben gloving behind left us on a way below par 98 all out.
Tea still was 9 overs away so Luke had the opportunity to bowl an opening spell with the new ball, supported by Thorpey. Luke passed the edge on many occasions as the big lads pace increased. Thorpey at the other end was getting angry, an LBW decision not given to the bemusement of all, following the decisions earlier on in the day. Joe finally got what he deserved with an LBW shout to leave Niffy needing 9 wickets to win...
Tea was taken, Countesthorpe's highest score of the day went to the homemade Millionaires Shortbread.
Back to the field, the Uppingham batsmen looked to get the job done quickly, which they did. From the 19th over infact. A wicket apiece for Toony and Joe Hawker meant we took a solitary point back to Bassett Avenue.
A tough day for all, but we must get ourselves prepared for next Saturday- training as usual is on Thursday.
