Heartbrake as Kirby hold on

The plan was to bat first score quickly and declare with extra overs to bowl out Kirby Tom who made a bright 33 Eben 150 not out and Wade 60 not out followed the plan to the letter. Eben's 150 including 7 sixes and Wade 60 included 6 fours as the partnership yielded 207 enabling Luke to declare on 259-1 after 38 overs. Over to the bowlers!

Wade nipped out Hammond but Cockerill and Kohli dug in until Cockerill was well held by Sy. The dangerous Williamson went first ball as Dave Sharpe took a well judged catch. Schofield joined Kohli and between them used up 10 over before Schofield was caught by Ben. A blatant caught behind was then missed by the umplre, which proved costly in terms of time. Waggy chipped in with 3 wickets but over s were running out with Kirby 8 down, the cunning plan of trying to take wickets stumped of wides to preserve deliveries being thwarted.

Kirby held on denying C'thorpe the 30 points that would have saved them, a great effort but not to be this time!!
