Winning Draw after 20 overs secures useful return

Having driven through floods it was nothing short of miraculous that the game would be reduced by only 2 overs per side. Ash won the toss and inserted Thorpe Arnold. Wade and Ash kept things tidy early on before Gaz nipped out opener Exton, with one that kept a little low. Overseas player Hayden Murphy started well, but soon lost his partner Clarke well held by Wade at cover. Myles Hickman joined Murphy and between them dominated a bowling attack not quite firing on all cylinders.

Hickman was first to his half century but went soon after attempting to reverse sweep Sy, Murphy was joined by Mark Matthews and between them batted through the overs as Thorpe Arnold finished on 248-3 Murphy making 91 undefeated.

In replay Gaz and Eben were solid and when rain intervened C'thorpe were 42-0 after 11 The innings was reduced by 6 overs putting an outright victory out of the question. 64 was the draw point target at 20 overs and C'thorpe were 77-0 at the same stage picking up 8 draw points. Batting points were now the order of the day, but Eben hit a return catch to Murphy, Wade was adjudged LBW to one that looked high and Gaz was caught behind by one that misbehaved as 3 wickets fell for just 7 runs.

Dave Sharpe and Sy added a few before Sy went back to a full ball and was given LBW. Dave hit some crisp shots as 125 secured another batting point, but on Dave's dismissal Hayden was sent in up the order to help Badge reach a third batting point and this they did with a big straight by Hayden took the score to 150. Hickman then deceived Hayden with a straight one but Jonny and Badge batted out without any trouble to secure the draw. Not the best of performances but valuable points non the less
