Wade again in the runs

Ash won the toss and batted on a good wicket. Tom and Gaz made a solid start with 50 arriving in the 18th over. Hesketh and Richardson bowled tight spells but it was overseas player Adam Taylor who made the breakthrough as Gaz was then given out LBW for a well made 37. Wade joined Tom but runs wee not easy to come by with Charlie Dagnall hitting a good line and length.

Taylor bowled Tom for 37 as Wade was starting to increase the rate. 135 for 2 with 10 overs left and maximum bonus points looked on, particularly as Wade had managed to hit Dagnall off his length with 4 consecutive boundaries in an over. Dave Sharpe started well with a couple of big boundaries, but Dagnall claimed his first wicket of the day by bowling Sharpy, Jonny soon followed in the same manner.

Luke and Wade were still adding quick runs until a bizarre run out occurred when Luke's bat ended up at square leg and he was run out at the bowlers end. Smig tried hard but Richardson returned to take 3 wickets in the last over and prevent 200 being reached. Wade top scored with a quality 71 with 8 fours but perished in the final over in the quest for the 5th batting point.

Taylor and skipper Rich Williams opened for Rothley and whilst the edge was found by Thorpy nothing went to hand. Taylor played some crisp shots but rode his luck occasionally with chips into space. Williams was more measured but struggled to score early on. Wade then had Taylor caught by Luke for 42 and Craig Bulmer came to the crease. A few mishits and a few good connection allowed him to reach 33 before Gaz bowled him. Dagnall then joined Williams and between them finished the game quickly adding the remaining 60 in just 7 overs Williams was 74 not out and Dagnall 34 as Rothley claimed an 8 wicket win. Heads were low, but an important game is on the horizon so a quick recharge of the batteries is imperative to ensure revenge is gained against Ashby
