Tom Smith has day to remember

Losing the toss when rain is about and the game reduced to 32 overs per side,is usually a recipe for disaster now double batting points have been scraped, however undaunted Gaz and Tom took the fight to the Kibworth attack. Both openers found the boundary with crisp shots as Tej and Dan Broughton tried to extract life from a wicket dampened by 24 hours rain.

Gaz fell to first change bowler Harrison Norton for 15, but the prolific Wade joined Tom in a stand of 66. Tom looked odds on to hit his maiden 1st team 50 when he was run out by a direct hit leaving him stranded on 46 Without doubt this was a breakthrough knock by the youngster, as his shot selection was excellent, and concentration first class in difficult conditions

Richo, back fro uni joined Wade, who again looked in complete control, however it was Richo who upped the tempo smashing both left armers Luke Spence and Tom Bailey for maximums. Wade was driving and pulling powerfully and just when the final onslaught was about to take place it rained ending Countesthorpes innings on 151-2 after 24 over. Wade made 45 not out with 7 boundaries and Richo hit two 6's and a four in his quickfire 22 not out.

After a heavy shower play resumed but Kibworth's innings was reduced to 20 over. Thorpy enduced Dips Patel to play on, but it was Ash who was the pick of the bowlers. Skipper Spence went for a big hit over the top but Tom took a well judged catch in the deep. Steve Matthew then tried the same form of attack and Tom took an even better catch back peddling, Ash being the successful bowler on both occasions.

David Whitmore then found himself stranded after star fielder Tom's throw found both batsmen at the same end and Badger did the rest. Norton found the boundary but was then well bowled by Ash for 5. At last Bhavik Patel found an ally in Steve Thompson and between them they guided Kibworth to the winning draw points, Patel eventually being caught by Jonny for a well made 59 Ash returned 3-26 from 8 excellent overs as Kibworth finished on 125-6 with the points equally distributed at 11 each. A good game played in a fine spirit and a confidence booster for Countesthorpe.
