100s Galore

The second team recorded an emphatic 124 run victory over Earl Shilton, with 2 of the club’s youngsters breaking the club record for the 4th wicket partnership.

Having lost the toss and been put into bat on a murky day, Countesthorpe were reduced to 57-3 after 10 overs due to some good early bowling from the Earl Shilton openers. That’s when Ibrahim Saghir was joined at the crease by Ethan Measures. The 20 year old batted for the remaining of the 40 overs together compiling an unbroken record partnership of 242. Both batters reached their maiden senior hundreds, Ibrahim finishing on 111 and Ethan on 104.

This meant we finished on 299-3 from our 40 overs. After an extended tea due to the much expected rain the match resumed with Earl Shilton requiring a revised target of 223 from 26 overs.

Victory was secured as Earl Shilton were bowled out for 98 in 20.4 overs. With Harry Measures taking 5-43 so his brother didn’t take all the limelight!

An excellent win as the 2nds complete back to back victories as they look to push up the table.

Elsewhere, the 1st team beat previously unbeaten Narborough & Littlethorpe by 6 runs in another rain affected match. After being put in and posting 161-9, the hosts were set a revised target of 149 in 37 overs. Tight bowling and excellent fielding left Narborough & Littlethorpe finishing 142-9 as the 1sts completed their first win in 5.

The 3rd XI couldn’t complete a hat-trick as a spirited display went down by 136 runs to Stapleton. After putting Stapleton in they made 291-7 from their 40 overs, again in a rain affected reply requiring 270 from 35 overs we made 133-6. Going down by 136 runs.
