Most of you will be aware of the Lord’s Taverners and the good work they do raising money for charitable causes across the country. Part of the good work they do towards their aims is collecting and recycling used cricket kit.
Kit and equipment are sent to cricket development projects in all parts of the country and abroad, where access to kit is often limited. Four years ago, we filled four boxes and two kit bags with kit donated by the members of Countesthorpe Cricket Club for these projects. Two years ago, it was more than this, so I am again going to collect for this good cause.
They will take everything cricket related in all sizes, adult or junior. We nearly all have kit we have grown out of, no longer use or have put away for whatever reason. Now is the opportunity to give it a second life and help others get involved in our great game. Who knows, your kit could help someone to go on to achieve great things they would otherwise not get the chance to do?
So, whether it is bats, balls, caps, shirts, trousers, socks, under garments, shoes, protective items, helmets, pads, gloves, wicket keeping equipment, stumps, bails, training equipment, umpire’s coats, bowling markers, kit bags, etc. etc. please donate. The only condition is it must be clean.
Until the end of the season there will be a yellow collection box, labelled, inside the clubhouse for donated items. This is a great chance for a clear out and to help others at the same time.
Many thanks,
Andrew Stean
