Countesthorpe Fall Short

The sun was shining but the wind was blowing for the opening game of the under13s season. After winning the toss Tyler elected to field and in the blustery condition Ethan and Jiaval got us off to a good start. Ben T then came on with a tight opening spell breaking the opening partnership up with the season’s first wicket. CCA’s opener nicked it to Sam who just to make sure had him stumped as well. Shea then took another wicket in the very next over with a great catch from Harry G. Shea had a hand in next wicket to fall with a sharp run out. With a few wickets down the runs were still coming, with solid 25’s from their opener and No 5 batsmen propelled the score to 100. Ben D came on with the overs running out to strike with his one over. Ben T then came back to finish the innings with a couple of wickets in the final over leaving Countesthorpe 116 to Win.
The inning got off to the best start possible with Adam and Sam crashing the ball to all parts and soon Adam had his 25 and had to retire. Sam soon followed with his 25 and retired. The score board at this stage was looking healthy and wickets in hand Countesthorpe were favourites, but with new batsmen at the crease we never seemed to get going. This was not helped with two quick wickets in consecutive balls derailing the chase. We then after that huffed and puffed but fell short in the end by 15 runs. Taking the positives from the game there were some fantastic individual performances and I am sure our next win is just round the corner.
