Great team effort sets up 7 Wicket victory over Kibworth

The 2014 season started with a visit to the ever popular Kibworth ground.

A great game played with superb spirit from both teams.

The Kibworth Fun Day was in full swing when Countesthorpe arrived, the main pitch being used up for games of Kwik Cricket, bouncy castles and beer drinking. The lads ended up on the lets call it 'Chilly' bottom pitch as Captain Yates won the toss and elected to field.

Mr Accurate opened the bowling- Joe Peace and was joined with the other Mr Accurate Quinn Johnson. Both bowled very well and did not give the Kibworth batsmen a chance to let loose. Reece Bryan was equally as accurate as the Kibworth batsmen started to grow in confidence allowing the score to reach 49/0 from 7 overs. Charlie Yates came on to break the partnership, bowling Seth Brown for a fluent 19. Tyler Garrard bowled superbly from his long run up! Captain Yates threw the ball to Sam 'Golden Arm' Blockley- with his third ball claiming his first wicket with a fantastic Caught and Bowled. Another wicket claimed later on with a sharpe catch from Charlie Yates at cover. Adam Broughton as always claimed a wicket with another tight spell.

The batting started well, Will Blockley, currently relegated to the back seat in the car because of Sam's heroics- played some great shots along with Dylan Parrish, smashing a back foot drive through the covers. Will was dropped early doors but put that behind him. Dylan smashed one straight towards Toony but Kush plucked it out of nowhere for a fantastic caught and bowled! Poorly shoulder Sharpey joined will and together pushed Countesthorpe towards the finish line, Will retiring on 27 (5x4's). Jaime played an expansive drive, unfortunately the ball crept through bat and pad and Jaime was bowled.
Charlie came to the crease, playing 'shot of the day' through the covers. Matt Sharpe continued to play some powerful leg side shots, retiring on 25 (4x4's). Reece came to the crease and looked to run the quick singles. Trying to improvise, Charlie shuttled across to off stump, hammered the ball to the boundary- only to swing too far and hit his own wickets. A great knock of 17 though that put Niffy in control. Joe Peace came in and between himself and Reece got the job done and Countesthorpe were 7 wicket victors!

Fridays training schedule??? Umpiring lessons for Joey...noooo ballll!!

As always, thank to all of the parents and supporters, see you all next week!
