Countesthorpe enter the top half of the Divisional Split thanks to Runs-per-Wicket format.

In a must win game against Electricity Sports ‘A’ team, Captain Yates won the toss and said- ‘we will have a bat’.

As is tradition for this season, a fresh opening pair strode to the crease, Will Blockley and JJ. A brilliant partnership between Jaime and Will saw Will reaching his customary retirement score (26*) and Jaime continuing to play fluent shots on his way to making a superb 22- Well done mate!
Will Flynn came to the crease and continued in the same vain as the two lads previous. Ben came in and departed to the spinner. Charlie came to join Will and both played well and ran well…until Charlie ran himself out! Bringing Will Tuckwell to the crease- Will played well again, improving with every innings finshed on 7 not out playing some great shots. Will Flynn smashed one to the square leg boundary to bring up his retirement score (28). His first of the season, well done! Matt Lingard and Sam Watkiss scored a run apiece and Niffy finished on 140/5.

Jubilant from the batting performace, the bowlers bowled with as always tight lines- Joe Peace unlucky not to get a wicket, Matt Sharpe seemed to have returned to his pacey self- I can see him taking a wicket or two in the next couple of games…
Golden Arm Lewis Gurney came on, with his fan club cheering on- 3 wickets for Lewis- well bowled! Will Tuckwell also bowled brilliantly, figures of 2-1-3-3, a great effort! Charlie bowled with good pace, taking his wicket and Sam Watkiss taking two at the end.

The fielding was much better, Matt Lingard taking a superb catch at Mid-off, sliding forward, Will Blockley behind the stumps was incredible, plaudits from everyone at the ground. Charlie captained the side perfectly, with his bowling changes, fielding positions and general attitude- a top effort.

We have qualified for League 1 in the divisional splits. An away game vs Houghton-on-the-Hill and two home games- Stoughton & Thurnby and the eagerly awaiting return fixture vs Lutterworth! (bring sleeping bags and camping gear if the previous game is anything to go by!)

Oh one last thing….the Umpire is ALWAYS right!!
