A quality opening spell by Thorpey put Ibstock in trouble snaring the first 3 wickets at a personal cost of 7 runs in 6 overs. The vital wicket of the prolific Matt Sharp was amongst the haul. Tom swung the ball and was unlucky to miss out on a couple of catching opportunities as he develops his skills match by match.
Guy Collier and Jake Robinson threatened to take the game away from Countesthorpe with a 55 run stand in quick time but Thorpey trapped Robinson in front to put the brakes on. 2 run outs, one the important wicket of Collier put Countesthorpe in control. Joe Hawker joined Gareth in the attack and between them polished off the tail taking 2 wickets each in a fine display of accurate seam bowling. Thorpey finished with 4-19 from 12 overs and mention to Waggy who took 2 slip catches and Will Buckley who was a fine deputy for Badger behind the stumps when he injured his fingers.
Gaz and Ben started confidently both hitting quality boundaries to ease any nerves. Matt Sharp bowled tightly and was close with a couple of shouts but Ben was in majestic form hitting 8 fours and a 6 in his 50 Gaz departed for a well made 36 including a huge 6 and 5 boundaries. Ben unluckily played on with 17 needed but the damage had been done as Badge and Will knocked off the remaining runs to claim victory with over 20 overs in hand.
A vital win and with Leics Banks losing a move up the table and out of the relegation places for the team. Just one game to go so all to play for next week, a victory will mean safety
