A severe case of dropsy affected the C'thorpe fielders with no fewer than 7 chances hitting the deck, however after openers Dan Chapman and Lee Martin had put Newbold in with a great chance of 250 plus, James Hunt got amongst the middle order to claim 5-16 and in doing so prevented Newbold from gaining maximum batting points.
Thorpey chipped in with 3-46 in a total of 197-9 and eventually the catches were held with Ben taking 2 and Dave one, as they patrolled the boundary. In reply Ben started in great style, but the clouds were gathering. Only 9 overs were bowled by Newbold as C'thorpe reached 44-0 Ben not out on 31 before the heavens opened. Each team gained 9 points, but C'thorpe were the more disappointed as 197 looked a below par score on a good batting track.
Good bowling from young Joe Hawker and James Hunt together with Will again looking solid at the top of the order gives the side great encouragement for what could be a decent season
