Luke and Thorpey put Syston under pressure early and Luke had overseas Perry Hill caught behind, Thorpey dismissed Jaliwala, but the experienced Scott Cooper was accumulating. Ben Drake didn't last long as Luke fizzed a beauty through his defences, but George Corbett looked in good form
Hayden replaced Thorpey and in an action packed first over went for 2 boundaries and claimed 2 wickets, the first being the dangerous Corbett well held by Hayden diving to his right in his follow through. Toony got amongst the wickets firstly snaring Cooper and then Dyer who made 30 and finally J Bathia. Syston mustered 130 which looked a little below par
The rain set in and 7 overs were lost suddenly making life a lot more difficult. Will and Ben started well but scoring was hard, Ben made 22 Will 25 and Dan 19 but overs were ticking away. Craig and Hayden struck some boundaries but perished, however the experienced pair of Dave and Luke negotiated some testing bowling to steer the team over the line for 25 valuable points.
Fun and games in other fixtures leaves the situation unclear but 7 points next week should clinch promotion back to div 2 at the first attempt
