Batting collective posts competitive score

A cautious start by Ben and Will gave C'thorpe a solid base from which to launch an attack with wickets in hand. A 70 run partnership ended when Ben was caught behind. Dan and Will moved the score passed 100 before Will was run out. Matt and Hayden went cheaply but Dave and Dan pushed the rate on.

When Dan perished Craig launched into Simon Brown as the score board raced around. James bowled Craig, but cometh the hour cometh the man, there was no stopping Thorpey. In 20 balls of carnage he smashed 45 not out with 3 sixes and 4 fours adding 60 with Dave in 6 overs. Dave finally departed for 38 but Thorpey's cameo ensured C'thorpe had a defendable target.

Melton started well but Ash nipped out Claricoats well held by Matt. Phil James was being creative but then Ash took the important wicket of Fourie for just 9 a little inside edge deflecting it on to his wickets. Craig and Toony took over and Toony soon snared Freer well held by Craig. Wickets fell at regular intervals, as Craig's tight line frustrated the batsmen.

Toony bowled Potter and Ash took a great catch to get rid of James as Melton looked to have settle for the draw. Ash returned to clean up Humphreys but Hugo Gibbs hung on for the last 4 balls to secure the draw. Ash finished with great figures of 4-36 and zipped the ball past the bat on many occasions. With 2 games remaining the lads are confident this will be a promotion season.
