Team effort secures valuable win

Ben and Gaz opened up after Craig elected to bat, both finding the bowling testing in a track with some pace and bounce. Ben was caught and bowled and James bowled as the seam attack got on top. Waggy joined Gaz who was then bowled by left arm spinner Khan for 38. Matt looked in good form and with Waggy added 48 until an ill judged run ended with Waggy being run out.

Dave showed intent from the word go, hitting 3 boundaries in his first 6 balls, and the rate started to increase. Matt timed the ball excellently until holing out on the leg boundary for a very good 40 Dan and Dave continued the good work until Dan was adjudged to have deliberately prevented a throw hitting the wickets by moving his leg, when in reality he was trying to get out the way of the ball! The umpire said "Obstructing the Fielder" and Dan had to go, not happy!

Craig plundered a quick 24 as Dave departed, top scoring with 42 A total of 221 was about par, but the bowlers would need to keep control as the target was certainly gettable

Thorpey and Ash both struck early but M Khan really put bat to ball thrashing the bowlers to all parts. Alleyene played a good defensive role as 65 were added in only 8 overs. Toony then enduced a false shot and despite a near collision with Dan, Matt held a good catch. Laher was dropped early on before striking boundaries to put Caribbean ahead of the rate.

With the score 147-5 and Caribbean looking possible winners, Craig recalled Thorpey who nipped out the dogged Alleyene well held by James at cover. Toony was having success as well, bowling Brown, but even the lower order showed attacking intent hitting boundaries as the target loomed. Enter James again with a quick brilliant catch at deep square leg, low down and with a greasy ball this was certainly a catch worthy of winning a match. Safaraz has looked dangerous but this was another Toony scalp.

Toony then had Kasu held by Ben on the boundary as Ash returned to the attack. With 5 overs to go and the last pair at the crease, the tension was real, Singh then looked to lift Ash to the boundary, but Dave at mid on pulled off a critical catch snatching the ball out of mid air like a keeper claiming a cross. The final wicket was snared with 4 overs remaining and 30 excellent points secured by a good all round team effort.
