Winning draw sends C'thorpe back to the top

Ben started well but the miserly Harrison pegged back the rate. Gaz, Dan and eventually Ben all fell to the accurate seamer and C'thorpe looked in trouble at 79-4 Dave joined James and put on a stand of 76 before they both went in the space of 2 balls. James recorded his maiden 1st team half century and Dave's 31 was a valuable knock

However at 159-6 after 40 we looked a few short of par. Enter Luke who after eyeing up a couple, proceeded to destroy Harris-Ensor's figures taking 20 from his final over. Thorpey lent excellent support as the board raced round in a 49 run partnership in only 4 overs. Luke was bowled by York for 42 with 4 sixes and three 4's and Thorpey finished 17 not out in a score of 221 which looked a good effort on a greenish slow wicket.

Luke opened up with some quick stuff and Thorpey's accuracy frustrated the Hinckley openers. Luke then ripped one through Harris-Ensor's defence to claim the first wicket. Thorpey then nipped out Dadu, Tipping, Sylvester and finally the dangerous proctor excellently caught by James, running back from cover point.

Alan York and Sam Smart lead the fight back with a 60 run partnership, but up stepped James to snare York, well held on the boundary for a well made 45 James then trapped Axon LBW to stake a claim for the team's leading all rounder!!

Luke returned and was too quick for Smart who departed for 31 at which point Hinckley settled for the draw. Harrison and Hatcher defended the last 6 overs without too much trouble, but a 21 point haul for C'thorpe was a fine reward for a game well played
