Thorpey opening spell makes life tough for Hinckley/CCA

Ben started like a train taking 12 from the first over, but it wasn't long before the train was derailed with Will, Craig and Ben all back in the pavilion with the score on 44 Matt McD soon followed before Kumara and Dave put together a partnership of 39 Kumara hit his 2nd ball for 6 and then played sensible cricket, with Dave giving good support.

Kumara found long on in good catching form and departed for 25 but Dave found another ally in Dan. Crisp drives by Dan saw him catch Dave's run total before finding the man at cow who again took a good catch. James and Dave looked to use up a few over before pushing on with the rate and that is exactly what happened. Dave reached 50 and with only a few overs remaining took charge

The experienced Chauhan suddenly felt the power of Dave's hitting as he went for 22 in the 40th over with 3 big maximums all clearing the long on rope by a distance. Dave was racing toward a ton before being bowled for 89 a fantastic contribution to an innings that could have subsided. James ended 21 not out and was a valuable contribution

Hinckley had struggled in previous weeks but this week had strengthened hugely. Don Bhagwatti and first meeting nemesis Shoyab opened up, but Thorpey was soon into the action. Second ball and Bhagwatti edged whereupon Ash took a blinder at slip inches off the ground, anther victim of note to add to Thorpey's ever growing collection

Shoyab fresh from a 165 at Syston was then caught behind by Dan standing up, another big victim for Thorpey. Small partnerships were built but wickets for Ash and James and a run out by Dave ensured Hinckley were always behind the rate. Chauhan started to attack and with skipper Ajaz suddenly saw a victory opportunity, however James bowled Azaj and Hinckley settled for a draw. James took 2-30 from 10 and bowled a great spell. With the leaders losing C'thorpe went to the top of the League and entertain Ratby next week in good form
