Ton Up Gaz sets up big win

Craig won the toss and batted in a brave move based on a dry pitch which looked as if it may crumble. Gaz and Ben posted a century stand before Ben missed a straight one and departed for an excellent 61 Craig as usual put bat to ball in a stand of 85 with Gaz in only 10 overs. Craig edged to the keeper for 46 as Gaz powered on. James Hunt joined Gaz and quick runs were required as the skipper had indicated an intention to declare.

Gaz was finding his range, then surprised everyone reaching his ton with a maximum!! James departed and Kumara supported Gaz who unleashed some crisp drives in a 40 run partnership. The skipper declared on 274-3 after 40 overs with Gaz hitting 16 fours and two 6's in his 124 not out, certainly one of his best knocks for the club

Waggy and Thorpey looked threatening as the Mountsorrel openers heaved a cross the line. James took the first chance at square leg and then pulled off a brilliant direct hit to run out the other opener. Craig held catches off Joe Hawker and Waggy as Mounsorrel wilted chasing such a big target. Toony got in on the act snapping up 2 wickets, with Craig also claiming 2

Mountsorrel's day was summed up when their number 11 failed to appear and they therefore fell to a 141 run defeat. Another fine team performance which lifts the team to 2nd in the league and a big game versus Melton on the agenda for next Saturday
