Gaz nips in with 4 wickets

Paul Cockerill and Mitchell Chadwick built steadily before Thorpey removed Chadwick LBW Mortimer looked to play himself in as Cockerill unleashed some powerful drives. Toony joined the attack and dismissed Cockerill with an excellent caught and bowled. Armson was soon undone by Toony's flight bringing Charlie Sansome to the wicket.

Initially riding his luck Sansome cut lose racing to his 50 Mortimer perished on 49 to Kumara who had joined the attack. Skipper Craig looked for a change as Sharpey and eventually Toony took a bit of stick. Gaz was the captains choice and he didn't disappoint, with wickets in each of his overs. In fact his final over could have yielded 3 but for a dropped catch.

Ratby's innings concluded on 230-8 and Gaz had snapped up 4-28 The half time cuppa was enjoyed by both sides in what looked an even game. Cockerill and Leggett open the Ratby attack keeping things tight, Leggett struck claiming Ben LBW and soon after Gaz caught behind. Will pulled and drove excellent boundaries before change bowler Armson bowled him round his legs. Kumara, joined senior Sharpey and nearly perished first ball as a mistimed pull looked to have been spilled by mid wicket running back.

Not put off by this near miss Kumara next 2 scoring shots were maximums to put a dent in Leggett's fine figures. Sharpey supported well as Kumara cut loose in a stand of 93 in double quick time. The returning Cockerill bowled Sharpey for a fine 35 and Craig went early to shift the game back to par.

Dan Lever joined Kumara who had just knocked Reed out of the attack. Dan smacked a great 6 to relieve the pressure before Kumara plundered two more boundaries to reach a quick brilliant ton. The otherwise accurate Mortimer went for 17 in his penultimate over as Countesthorpe closed in on victory. With 5 needed to win Kumara smashed the ball to deep mid wicket only to see the diving Leggett grab one of the finest outfield catches you will ever see, one handed, inches off the ground, quite brilliant!!

Muggle strode to the wicket and after a near miss first ball soon smashed the ball to the boundary for the win. Dan Lever in only his 2nd game batted with great common sense to end 21 not out which included 2 maximums, but the highest of praise goes to Kumara who his 12 boundaries and 8 maximums in his 118 and 25 precious points.
