Whilst there has been no competitive cricket during 2020, a number of volunteers have continued to work tirelessly to make sure that the Club does not fall away and that its facilities are maintained so that, when the day comes, the Club's facilities are all good to go!
However, the number of people offering to help has dwindled over the years and so the Club is looking for more people to come forward and help. The Club has been around for 95 years and the Committee want to ensure that it is around for many more years to come.
The Niffy is one of the largest Clubs in Leicestershire offering cricket for men, women, girls and boys. It is also one of just 8 clubs in Leicestershire that run four senior Saturday league sides, which is a real testament to the culture of the Club and its members. However, as a result of the Club's size, it does take a huge amount of time to keep things running smoothly. The Club is basically a small business!
Volunteering in cricket is hugely rewarding. Whether you are just starting out, or having been volunteering for years, we are always looking to get more people involved. Countesthorpe is run entirely by volunteers and so the more help we can get, the better we can make the game for all at the Club.
There is a perception that taking on one of the roles will take up a significant amount of time. This is not the case. If we all did a little then this would mean that the load would be spread evenly across the members.
The Committee have split up volunteering roles to manage peoples work load so that Club affairs do not take up too much of your free time. At present, the Club has a number of vacant positions that it needs to fill. These include:
Commercial Secretary
Head of Senior Selection
Second Team Scorer
Junior Team Coach Support Workers
Junior Team Match Day Coordinators
Junior Team Administrators
Friendly Fixture Coordinator
Disabled Cricket Coordinator
Walking Cricket Coordinator
Volunteer Coordinator
Club Mark Coordinator
Club Development Plan Coordinator
Risk and Compliance Coordinator
PR Support Worker
100 Club Coordinator
Finance Assistant
Grants Officer
Lead Events Coordinator
Events Coordinators
Ground Support Workers
Bar Staff
As you can see, this there are a huge list of roles that need to be fulfilled and we really need all of our members and their families and friends to consider helping. We really need your support.
For more information on any of these roles, please have a look at the task descriptions which can be found HERE
As a number of people are now working from home, and so no longer have a commute, would you be prepared to use this time to help YOUR Club? A few hours a week (if that) would go a really long way to ensure the sustainability of Countesthorpe Cricket Club.
If you are willing to help the Club in fulfilling its objectives by taking on one of the roles listed above then please speak to any of the current Management Committee (if you don't know who they are clickHERE ) who will be pleased to discuss the roles with you. Alternatively please feel free to email James Popplewell at jamespopplewell@outlook.com
If you would like to get involved in volunteering, we would love to hear from you and will do our best to find you a rewarding opportunity. It's a fantastic way to meet new people, support your community as well as enhance your CV.
Please consider our request fully and help us keep this great Club moving forward.
So, why not do something great?
